England, 1837 In the game of kings, there can be only one winner, but a second chance at love is worth more than any throne…

As a British army colonel, Edward FitzPrince deals with dangerous secrets every day. When his mother dies and he learns he may have a claim to the British throne, he quickly finds himself out of his depths. The Scottish-born soldier discovers life in London and political maneuvering foreign indeed.

One woman can help him, German Princess Charlotte von Scharnburg, with whom he had a secret romance more than a decade before, his long-lost wife. As the best friend and lady-in-waiting to his half-sister, Queen Victoria, who has just ascended the throne of England, Charlotte is now his natural enemy.

Edward is determined to have his birthright. Charlotte must ensure her family’s survival. They will be each other’s greatest ally, or tear each other apart.

The Princess Dilemma A Victorian Royal Romance edition by Heather Hiestand Literature Fiction eBooks

Princess Charlotte and Prince Edward knew each other when they were just 14 and 16 years old, getting married at that age and then being ripped apart and to never see or hear from the other again. Skip 11 years and both Charlotte and Edward reunite, they go from not trusting each other to being each others ally and from that to lovers. Charlotte is a lady in waiting to the Queen and has never been with any man and works hard for her wages to send back home to her family. Edward is the Queens half brother and they have a hate hate relationship.

What I enjoyed most about The Princess Dilemma is watching both Charlotte and Edward learn to trust in each other and helping each other out and being there for each other as much as they can, watching Edward willing to risk it all because he cant go another minutes without seeing her and having her in his arms, Charlotte wanting to be with Edward but not wanting to mess up her job and open up to everyone that they are in fact married. A love story that started all them years ago to blossom into what it can be if they can be together in the end.

This is a great Historical romance novel, This story has a woman who doesnt know the love of a man or the feel of one, a man who wants what he feels is rightfully his and that is the throne, Charlotte a lady in waiting just doing her job as well as she can until her long lost husband shows up and she looses her self in thinking of him often, Edward trying to be the man that Princess Charlotte deserves and hoping they can end up together but it all falls into the Queens hands for the final decision, a Love story. If you like stories like this, then The Princess Dilemma is a must!

The Princess Dilemma A Victorian Royal Romance edition by Heather Hiestand Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The Princess Dilemma A Victorian Royal Romance is a good historical romance read. I enjoyed the characters and the author's writing style. I don't read a lot of historical romances but I used to. The Princess Dilemma reminds me of why I enjoy this genre. I will be looking into other books by her. I found the plot to be engaging and interesting. I kept reading until the final page My only complaint was that the story was over. I would recommend it to people who enjoy historical romances.
I felt this story was well written and the characters were developed. I just couldn't get into the royal aspect of the story, I think I just wasn't excited about the story line, this is my personal preference, nothing about the writing, it just might be the mood I'm in-I read many genres and I recently have been reading more modern romances and so I think I wasn't in the historical frame of mind when reading this so please take this as only my opinion, nothing against the book itself.

It was very slow in the beginning so I had to keep coming back to the book. It was hard to get into but once I got into it, it wasn't bad. I am not a fan of stories that are slow or drag on. I love Victorian Romance novels because I love the old Victorian time period. I was really hoping that I could getting into the story. I did finish the story and it was a nice ending. I am not giving up on this author and I will read other novels from her just to give her a second chance. As a writer myself I know how hard it is to right a good story.

This Victorian Royal Romance takes place in England, 1837. In the game of kings, there can be only one winner, but a second chance at love is worth more than any throne. When his mother dies and he learns he may have a claim to the British throne, he quickly finds himself out of his depths. German Princess Charlotte von Scharnburg, with whom he had a secret romance more than a decade before, his long-lost wife may be the key to help in. Although she is the best friend and lady-in-waiting to his half-sister, Queen Victoria, who has just ascended the throne of England. A remarkable written and developed novel with no plot holes. The settings and description details felt real & vivid. I was captivated right from the beginning & delve right in and felt like I was right there in the 1800's. The writing style was perfect for this genre & was done superbly. The characters were fascinating with realistic emotions and flaws. I highly recommend reading this historical romance novel as you will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed and advance reading copy of this book.

Let me just start with that I love Victorian romances. I'm not one for the Regency and all the insipid details about the ton, marriage mart, etc. I want a story with some meat to it and Ms. Hiestand delivers it. She also delivers some intrigue as well. Not mystery/thriller/suspense intrigue but how Victoria came to power and the behind the scenes look at the early days of her reign.

Ms. Hiestand did her homework when it came to the historical details that enhance the story. As you know, the Germans were very important to the English. Good and bad, they were necessary. Princess Charlotte is a prime example of this. Richly drawn, emotional and interesting. She isn't stupid, she has decisions to make it's not easy for her.

Edward was more a puzzle to me. It really wasn't until the end of the book that I finally understood him. Sure, I liked him but I never really connected with him like I did Charlotte. I did, however, love him in the end. I feel like there is more to him and I hope that she writes about his brothers because his family arc is tied to them.

The smexy times were appropriate for the times and I felt their connection instantly. I also liked how Victoria finally came to her senses in the end in regards to Edward and Charlotte. Lord Melbourne really needed to be slapped but maybe we will get that in another book. Victoria is smart and didn't deserve some of the things that were said about her.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and I think that you will too!
